Church: worship or entertainment?

Ezekiel 33:32 You are very entertaining to them, like someone who sings love songs with a beautiful voice or plays fine music on an instrument. They hear what you say, but they don’t act on it!

Do you go to church to worship God or to be entertained?  Do you want someone to tell you what comforts you and makes you feel good?  Or do you respect the pastor who puts his comfort aside and tells you what God wants you to hear?

Have we reduced church to a restaurant where we are fed but never feed?  Or a theater where we are entertained but never serve?  Even in Ezekiel’s day people were coming the hear his message, not because they wanted to hear what he had to say, but because they were bored or curious or felt obligated.  Some people today attend church because they enjoy the music.  Some come for the fellowship.  Others for the activities.  Some use it as a daycare or a babysitter.

The people came to hear Ezekiel but they had no intention of putting his words into practice.  Let us instead listen to the message and apply it to our life.
