When the wicked prosper

Psalms 10:4-6 The wicked are too proud to seek God.
They seem to think that God is dead.
Yet they succeed in everything they do.
They do not see your punishment awaiting them.
They sneer at all their enemies.
They think, “Nothing bad will ever happen to us!
We will be free of trouble forever!

Some people don’t acknowledge God and don’t accept His existence.  Some acknowledge Him but insist that they alone have earned what they have and not even God can bring them down.  Yet they prosper.  And we get angry.  Why?  Is it because of the damage they are causing themselves and others? Or are we jealous of their success?

Scriptures tell us that the wicked will be punished because God hates their evil deeds.  Wealth is not a sign of God’s approval just as poverty is not a sign of His disapproval.  We are not to let money be our obsession.

Believers have a sense of security found only in God, but unbelievers they have no security therefore they cling tightly to their possessions here on Earth.  While we can move ahead with the peace God gives us, unbelievers have a hopelessness and confusion about their purpose on Earth.
