Dare to Guard Your Thoughts and Fill Your Mind with Good (November 22, 2013)

Colossians 3:2  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.  For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ.

It’s amazing how many thoughts go through our minds each day.  Good thoughts and bad thoughts–our minds hear them all.  It is so much easier to dwell on the bad thoughts–those thoughts that give us the idea we are having a bad day, maintaining bad relationships or just generally living a bad life.  But we are warned that this kind of thinking can get us into trouble by leading us into sin or by making unwise decisions.  Instead, we are to focus our minds and thoughts on God and His Word which encourages us to make good choices, wise decisions, and be obedient to what God is asking of us.

“The best way to get rid of bad thoughts is to replace them with whatever is good.  It sounds simplistic, but it really works.  If there is any good, choose to dwell there.  Stay in the positive.  Fill your mind with what is good, and the peace of God will be yours.”¹

[Read Acts 22-28]

Acts 27:25 So take courage! For I believe God.  It will be just as he said.

Father God,
I surrender my mind to You.  Teach me to cast down every thought that does  not honor You or Your Word. Amen.

Thank you for this encouraging post. Mind is the battlefield. I struggle with my thoughts a lot. But the good news is by the grace of God I am gaining victory. Afterall I am not a victim but a victor 🙂

Reblogged this on o my beautiful life and commented:
Phillipians 4:8 – Fill your mind with those yhings that are good and that deserve praise, things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely and honorable.
Your mind is the battle field. Your thoughts shape your world. Fill your mind with good thoughts. You can do this because you are not a victim but a victor in Christ.
