Joy and Peace (May 27, 2013)

Romans 15:13 “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”

Joy

“Joy is based on God’s truth, not on your immediate circumstances.” {p. 234 “The Mind of Christ Workbook”}

Joy is not always an emotion based on happiness.  It comes from choosing to glorify God in spite of your circumstances, whether good or bad, easy or difficult.

Peace

“Peace comes from within.  Peace does not come from outward circumstances.” {p. 235 “The Mind of Christ Workbook“}

Peace comes by resting in the person and character of Christ.  If you aren’t experiencing peace, ask God to show you what sin or conflicting desire is robbing you of His peace.

[Read John 13-15]

John 15:9-11 “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me.  Remain in my love.  When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.  I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy.  Yes, your joy will overflow!”

Father God,
When Jesus came into the world, the angels proclaimed His joy.  Jesus is the Prince of Peace and He is my peace.  Guide me to live in such a way that I will know Your joy and peace. Amen.
