Virtues of Godly Wisdom–Christ’s Lifestyle (May 19, 2013)

James 3:17 “The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”

“Lifelong Objective: In Christ you will develop the mental quality of discernment and use it to become pure, peaceable, gentle, entreatable, merciful, fruitful, steadfast and honest.” {p. 70 “The Mind of Christ Workbook“}

In order to produce the virtues God desires for us, we must develop discernment and wisdom and use them.   We can’t just amble along through life hoping we don’t run into trouble.  Opportunities will come along daily to test our virtue.  We will lose patience and say things we don’t mean if we don’t practice thinking wisely before we react or speak.  Sometimes we will need to submit to God’s cleansing through His Word and apply His wisdom in our life.

[Read Luke 13-15]

Luke 13:30 “And note this:  Some who seem least important now will be the greatest then, and some who are the greatest now will be least important then.”

Father God,
Give me a spiritual hunger for Christ to establish the eight virtues of becoming pure, peaceable, gentle, entreatable, merciful, fruitful, steadfast and honest in my mind and practicing them in my life.  Help me use discernment and wisdom as I experience my daily life. Amen.
