Fix your thoughts on Jesus (May 6, 2013)

“Developing the mind of Christ will be costly.  Yet its value is far beyond any cost that may be required.” {p.27 “The Mind of Christ Workbook“}

Jesus didn’t sugarcoat the cost of following Him.  He didn’t make false promises.  He did, however, guarantee the rewards would far outweigh anything we lost or gave up on this earth.  We may never see them this side of Heaven, but He promised we would one day.

[Read Matthew 17-19]

Matthew 19:29 “And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life.”

{The following prayer is taken from p. 29 of “The Mind of Christ Workbook“}

Father God,
I am both frightened and thrilled by the command to become like Jesus.  Thank You for a starting place.  For Jesus’ sake and in His name, I give my mind to You.  I have set my mind on things above, so far as I know how to do that.  I seek continuing renewal, and thank You for it.  I will gird up my mind and live in a state of readiness to witness to the glories of Jesus.  Thank You that Jesus was single-minded, lowly, pure, responsive and peaceful.  Help me to be like Him in those specific ways.  Amen.
