Hebrews 12:28-29 Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a devouring fire.
Sometimes we place more emphasis on being God’s friend than we should. Let’s not forget who God is–our Creator, our Lord and Savior who, though He loves us deeply, requires us to be pure and holy in His presence.
Jesus came to save us from the evil in this world. He came to bring us into His Kingdom. We should show our gratitude by living honorable lives, worshiping God in spirit and truth and possessing a holy fear and awe of Him.
God’s power should instill in us a holy fear and respect for the One who judges our thoughts and deeds. Though He loves us, His character does not allow us to treat Him any way we choose. Yes, we can walk with Him as we do with a friend, but He commands a deeper respect.
Sometimes we latch on to You as a friend forgetting that we can’t treat You any old way. Your character requires a purity and holiness we can only receive through repentance and grace. Thank You for the gift of salvation, mercy and grace and the ability, through Your Son, to approach You with our needs. Amen.
