God’s Will (March 25, 2013)

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

God’s desire is for His people to be joyful and thankful to stay in communication with Him at all times and in all circumstances.  He doesn’t want His people to mope or pout because life isn’t going the way they planned.  He wants us to set an example to non-believers.  He doesn’t want us to complain about what we don’t have but grateful for the things that we do–even those things that aren’t necessarily what we want.

Praying continually means that we have an open line of communication with God at all times–being willing to listen for God’s still, small voice in the midst of our day–whether calm or chaotic.  It means we can talk to God and give Him our concerns immediately–we don’t have to wait–God is always available to listen.

Father God,
It’s hard to be joyful all the time.  It’s hard to be grateful at all times especially when things are difficult; however, it is things difficult things and times that cause us the most growth.  Instead of looking back and being grateful, we should thank God in the midst of trouble knowing that growth will follow.  Even joy.  Thank You for the open communication we share and open my eyes and ears for the perfect opportunity to hear Your voice.  Amen.
